\r\nIn the summer, we sometimes go and look at the cows on Reyer Farm with the kids from the campsite. That\u2019s always good fun, because there are often new-born calves. I love animals and I know quite a bit about them. Then I\u2019m big I want to be a biologist, like David Attenborough who\u2019s got his own TV show. Or a professional footballer of course, I wouldn\u2019t mind that. If we have a day off, then we sometimes go canoeing to the mill with dad, and then on to Kollum. That's really brill!

\r\nThey like to say I\u2019m a dreamer, but that\u2019s an exaggeration. It\u2019s just that I don\u2019t always feel like listening to everybody. But when new guests arrive, I always let everybody know right away. And I always get the post out of the letterbox, because that\u2019s my job.

\r\nI like cycling and karting, especially with loads of other kids at the same time. I can also bounce on the trampoline for ages\u2026 or play football, of course. Football\u2019s always fun, especially if we can carry on until after dark.

\r\nWhat I like doing best is riding around all day on my pink princess bike. I always decide what clothes to wear (and even if I don\u2019t, I still think it should be up to me). Sometimes I wear training trousers when it\u2019s really muddy, but I like wearing dresses or skirts best. They have to be pink of course.
\r\n
\r\nI like helping my mum clean the shower block. And when I\u2019ve had enough, I go on the swing for a bit, or jump really high on the trampoline. I also love making pies out of sand with the other kids. We go round the tents, take their orders very carefully, and then we bake them.

\r\nIf you see somebody tearing by on a cool ride-on mower, it\u2019s probably me! In fact, I really should have become a farmer since there\u2019s nothing I like better than working our land all day. In any case, I really enjoy the birdlife and vast open skies surrounding me. And our great guests, of course!

\r\nIf you fancy a jog or a bike race, don\u2019t hesitate to ask me for tips. I\u2019ll be glad to help! As well as being a landowner, I'm also a teacher in economics at the Hogeland College in Warffum.

\r\nObviously, I'm the boss of the campsite. You can see that immediately <\/span> . I usually greet guests and explain everything to them. If you\u2019re looking for tips for a great day out, shower tokens or paddles for the canoe, I'm the person to go to, and you can usually find me at reception!

\r\n Besides running the campsite, I also work at the Waddenvereniging in Harlingen. That\u2019s something I really enjoy, but I\u2019m equally happy cleaning the shower, where I can forget everything and lose myself in daydreams <\/span> .

\r\nOur guests with dogs always like to come to the beach for dogs: they are allowed to run free off the leash throughout the year on the third beach from the village of Lauwersoog, and swim to their heart's content in the water.

\r\nThe activitycentre Lauwersnest<\/span><\/a> is managed by the Dutch Forestry Commission, and it is where you can learn loads of things about animals and nature in the National Park Lauwersmeer. There is also a play wood where you can build huts and make a campfire. And during school holidays, they organise loads of fun activities for kids.

\r\nAs soon as there\u2019s a bit of ice on the water, the Frisians get their ice skates ready. The Ezumakeeg is the locals\u2019 favourite! You\u2019ll find yourself skating in the middle of the most beautiful nature, and because the water is shallow it freezes over easily. It only needs a couple of frosty days!

\r\nDo stop driving for a while at Ee, though, and take the opportunity to stroll up this traditional Friesian village, built on a mound for protection from the water, to the church (a church on a perch ;-)). Absorb the intimacy of this special village as you wander its narrow cobbled streets.

\r\nThe wad<\/span><\/a> at Moddergat is my favourite place. Go crabbing, look for shells and get muddy.... when you leave here, they\u2019ll smell you before they see you! And watch out that your boots don\u2019t get stuck in the mud, or you\u2019ll have to continue in just your socks!

\r\nBecause of my work at the Waddenvereniging I can really recommend this place. Are you curious why the Wadden Sea is a real UNESCO World Heritage Site?

\r\nIn the World Heritage Centre<\/u><\/a> you can experience what makes the Wadden Sea so special through a super cool experience. Moreover, you will find the new seal hospital (formerly Pieterburen) at the top. Downstairs you can have a nice coffee or a meal with a view of the mudflats.

A tasty speciality, which can be bought from the baker in historic Kollum. The strawberries from the local greengrocer are the best in all of the Netherlands, as, of course are the Frisian potatoes!

\r\nEvery year, we leave home on our bikes and go on a lads\u2019 holiday with dad. Olke and I always want to go to Ameland, because it\u2019s a really nice island where we can pitch the tent in the dunes and go to the beach a lot. It\u2019s also a nice bike ride from it Dreaml\u00e2n to the Holwerd where the ferry to Ameland<\/span><\/a> leaves.

\r\nThe Forum<\/span><\/a> in Groningen is an impressive eye-catcher and an experience in itself. At 45 meters high you have a fantastic view of the city. Spread over the floors you will find different departments of the library, the media lab and a very cool children's library.

\r\nIn bad weather you can catch a movie on the fifth floor in the beautiful cinema. The highlight for me is Storyworld<\/span><\/a>, the museum for comics, animation and games on the sixth floor.

\r\nDid you know that there is a very cool lookout tower, De Reiddomp<\/span><\/a>, in the Lauwersmeer area? He is hidden in the forest, but is great fun for children!

\r\nFrom Natural Kollumeroord you walk the WasWadPad; that is an experience route with all kinds of fun, active parts. That way you won't even notice you're walking! Then you climb up the tower and you have the most beautiful view over the Lauwersmeer and in good weather you can even see the boat sailing to Schiermonnikoog! So bring binoculars!

\r\nThe latest addition to Kollum is Grand Caf\u00e9 WALD<\/span><\/a>. It is located in the beautiful old town hall of Kollum and has been stylish converted into a contemporary caf\u00e9 and restaurant.

\r\n Lunch, dinner or drinks: you can go to this nice place for everything, where the friendly staff creates a living room feeling.

\r\nWhen you go to Dokkum by bike, nice on the old cycle path along the Dokkumer Grootdiep, you will pass Schreiershoek<\/span><\/a> just before Dokkum. Here is a very beautiful pavilion on the water, where you can sit on the terrace in the summer, but you can also rent a motor boat to sail into Dokkum.

\r\nOn our side of Leeuwarden you will find two nice places, close to each other: AquaZoo<\/span><\/a> and Park Vijversburg<\/span><\/a>. You can stroll around in this nature and culture park, and there are special things to experience such as a hermit's hut, a water labyrinth that you have to go through with rafts, and even a bridge under water...

\r\nOn the way to us, or on the way back, you will pass the Blotevoetenpad<\/span><\/a> just before the A7. I love to walk barefoot through the mud and through the water. You can rest in hammocks along the way and then eat an ice cream at Theetuin Blotevoetenhof. There is a short route 1.5 km for the little ones, and there is a longer route of 3.5 km.

It Dreaml\u00e2n is located in the north of Holland just below the Lauwersmeer<\/span><\/a> National Park and Unseco World Heritage the Waddensea<\/span><\/a> on the border of the provinces Groningen and Friesland. <\/p> \n
